There are lots of jobs in nursing available. You just have to put up with a lot of stress and poor working conditions. The pay has improved because of the shortage though.

JW restrictions on sex, lead to over hype that made sex disappointing.
by free2beme ini remember being a teenager and my hormones were on overdrive.
the young witnesses i knew, male and female, were all feeling the same thing.
we would bring up sex, in one form or another, all the time.

choosing life
A young MS got married at the age of 20. When he returned from his honeymoon, all I heard was how the sex was a big let-down. He even stated that he would not have gotten married if he knew that the sexual experience was going to be so disappointing. He said that he only got married so he could have sex.
I felt so sorry for his young wife. How embarassing! Never did hear any response from her. They are still together though. She is a pretty and nice girl. Kind of shy. I thought this brother should have been raked over the coals for treating his wife in such a fashion, but nothing happened. So, I would say that many young ones do get married just to have sex and many are probably disappointed after all the guilt trips they receive when they are young.
Thank goodness I was already married when I joined up and am still happily married.

Help me build a strategy to help get a Watchtower slave free...
by AK - Jeff ina very nice fellow at work - who happens to be direct line supervisor to me - is a jw.
unknown to me, since we have few personal conversations, although i sensed he was 'religious'.
in speaking with another christian there one day about my 'cult experience', she mentioned that she thought this person was a witness, and it seems now that is the case.. i think, from what others have told me, that he might be relatively new to the jdubs, but am not sure of this.

Hard to do. I do remember once in field service that a woman just looked me straight in the eyes and said, "I used to do what you are doing now." Then nothing else. I left, but never forgot and always wondered why she quit.
Maybe some well placed statements to others in his presence would catch his attention. If you were talking to someone else, he wouldn't have to feel threatened or confronted. He might listen and think about the things you said later.
What to talk about I am not sure. I think the United Nations, pediphile problems, or anything in the news would be fair game. I know I would have quietly listened if someone had spoken in front of me about those things when I was still in. This would give him the chance to decide if he wanted to talk about it. Kinda put the ball in his court.

I always thought that answer that the person would have to find them at their door was so smug. But I did hear it used several times. Personally, I would take the literature offered if no one was with me to get upset. I always thought the truth could stand on its own.
The real reason we all know is to keep people from learning the other side of the organization. Thought control at its best.

Been out for over a year. But affected by loved ones still in. First, I had to deal with a lot of negative emotions-anger, grief, disappointment, fear, etc. But now some of the good emotions are starting to take me to new places. I feel free-so free! I can read , watch, experience and believe whatever I want.
At first, I had to come to grips with my mortality because I truly believed them when they said I would never have to experience old age or death. Now I feel that God will take care of those things and has always been in control to begin with.
I am determined to cherish the life I have now. I want to reach out and help people more. I am not waiting for some magical solution. There were so many things I did or didn't do because some strangers in New York told me to. Now it's my responsibility to direct my life and I am thankful for that every day. I guess I would take a mortal life of freedom over an immortal life of slavery any day.
Looking forward to living free and helping others to do so.

Judging from the information available on the internet, I think it is inevitable that the real truth will continue to spread. They are trying to discourage education and use of internet, but who is listening? Just in my little area I have seen many leave the local congregations. They just walk away or are shunned for apostacy.
From this board, I see an influx of new ones continue to grow. Once a person learns they have been deceived about only 1 thing, they are going to start listening more carefully and be more open to think for themselves. And then there are the thousands that are only in it for family. Without the shunning policy, the religion would be gone.

Do 'Cult Deprogramers' Work?
by Outaservice inthere have been individuals who hire so called 'cult deprogramers' to get a loved one out of a cult.
they sometimes kidnap them and try to get them out of whatever cult they might be in.
does this ever work, and would it have worked on you as a jw?.

I am reading Steve Hassen's Combating cult mind Control at present. I skipped to the chapter that discussed thought control. The organization doesn't use all of the things mentioned, but it uses way too many to send shivers down my spine. I am going back now to read from the beginning.
I think it depends how far into a cult a person is whether they can be deprogrammed. Even he says that if he didn't catch one man before he went to a particular programing workshop by the Moonies, that it might have been too late to reach him.
It all depends how much one has invested in the cult and whether they are anywhere close to being ready to question their "one true way to salvation". And people need to be there for the person for a long time after such an intervention, as we all know their world is going to be shattered. They need help to put together the pieces again and start life over, without their security blanket.

Should we be DF'd for eating trans fats
by Bonnie_Clyde inwow....are you part of the gb and found that you have recieved "new light"?

I don't know about transfats, but obesity is about as much a cause of sickness and death as cigarettes. It is supposed to soon pass smoking as the single most preventable cause of death. If you can be disfellowshipped for smoking, why does obesity get a free pass?
I don't really believe in shunning at all. just pointing out the inconsistencies in their policies.

Who all on here think they have been saved and have received God's spirit? The reason I ask is I want to know what it feels like and how you know this is legitimate? I did have an "experience" when I was baptized 30 years ago as a witness. But I just discounted it, because I was repeatedly told that I could not be annointed. However, I have never had an experience like this again.
Please allow those who do feel they are saved to express themselves without fear of ridicule. All sincere answers are wselcome.
